    Abstract

Along with the IoT technology development, various functions to realize on the smart plug are being attempted. However, there is a doubt that if the results of these attempts will satisfy the users’ needs. So this research was to grasp the users’ perceptions on the various functions that are currently available on the smart plug. To do so, the reference books on the importance of the users’ understanding prior to technology were reviewed first, and the applied functions on smart plugs were investigated. From a survey on the users’ perception on the smart plug functions, the results proved that the users desired to have the electricity safety function on the smart plug device and the remote control function to power on/off in the mobile application for the smart plug the most. Yet, the functions that are not closely related to the house management were perceived to be less useful. Through these results, the future development direction of the smart plug was sought.
